Lincoln National Guard 1/2 Marathon - 5/4/2014

My dad, my cousin Shelly, her husband Clint and I ran the 1/2 marathon in Lincoln over the weekend.  It was a great race with a great atmosphere.  People lined the street through the entire 13.1 mile course with signs cheering everyone on.  I've never heard so many strangers yell my name before (it was on my bib)! We lucked out with the weather.  It was a beautiful day to run!

Race bib, shirt and pace bracelet.
Kohen was pretty excited because he got to swim while we were at the race expo.
This was Clint's drink of choice for the night before the race!

The "after" picture. There were 12,500 runners that morning.  So, it was nearly impossible to find our other two for an official "after" picture.  I had a goal of 1:45 or under.  I didn't quite hit it.  I was cruising along on target to come in under 1:45 and the hill at the end of mile 8 set my pace back a bit for the remainder of the race.  I wasn't too far off at 1:46:35.  I was a little disappointed on race day but am fine with it now and will hit that goal next time!
Who ran the 1/2 marathon?! He was tired and cold!
Back at the hotel, ready to get cleaned up for Shari and Lynn's post-race festivities
Dad got fourth in his age group, coming in at 2:00:09.  Great job!!!
